Accessibility Statement
Last updated October 6, 2026
This page explains how accessible the Circl website is today, what we've checked, what still falls short and how to reach us.
01What this covers
This statement covers the circlhq.com website for hosts: sign-up and sign-in, the onboarding steps, the host dashboard, public share pages and our legal pages.
The Circl mobile app is a separate product, and this statement doesn't cover it.
02Our goal
We're working toward the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, Level AA.
That's our goal, not a claim that the site meets it today. The gaps we know about are listed below.
03What we've done so far
As of October 2026, this is what we've built and checked.
- Keyboard. Sign-up, sign-in, the onboarding steps and the host dashboard can be used with a keyboard alone, apart from the few drag-only tasks listed below.
- Dialogs. Pop-up dialogs keep keyboard focus inside, close with Escape and return focus to where you were.
- Visible focus. You can see where keyboard focus is, and it stays visible in Windows high-contrast (forced colours) mode.
- Text contrast. Text on our public pages was checked for contrast, and no failures were found.
- Field borders. Borders on text fields, drop-downs and tick boxes are at about 5:1 contrast, above the 3:1 minimum.
- Narrow screens. Public pages fit a screen 320 pixels wide without sideways scrolling. Signed-in pages were checked from 390 pixels wide.
- Reduced motion. When your device asks for reduced motion, the site cuts back its animations.
- Structure. We reviewed the accessibility tree, which screen readers rely on, across about 100 pages and dialogs. Buttons and pop-ups are labelled, errors and result counts are announced, and headings follow a consistent order.
- Browsers. We've tested in Chrome and Firefox.
04Known limitations
- We haven't yet tested with a screen reader, such as VoiceOver or NVDA, or in Safari.
- Some tasks still need a mouse or touch screen. In the membership card designer, moving anything on the card, and selecting the card's built-in text or the Circl logo, can't yet be done with a keyboard. Reordering photos in Settings and on the onboarding preview step also needs a mouse or touch screen. On the onboarding map, you can type the address instead of dragging the pin.
- On/off switches, and the month and year menus in the date-of-birth picker, still have faint edges, below 3:1 contrast.
- A few fields you type into in place, such as the answer options in the application-form builder and the post box on the Posts page, have no border of their own.
- Maps are visual only. Next to each map, the address is shown as text when one has been entered.
- Circl's internal staff tools aren't covered by this statement or by the checks above.
- Some steps take you to another company's pages, such as Stripe's payout set-up or Google's sign-in. Those pages follow that company's own accessibility.
